Michael’s main focus in
painting is on the interactions between line, texture and colour in
abstract, landscape, and figurative work. He is interested in
abstraction as a means of considering landscape and form – in both
painting and line drawing. His painting plays deliberately with texture
and the layering of colour to emphasise subject and its visual
aesthetic, reflecting dialogue between three-dimensional form and
changing patterns of colour.
He brings a strong
international focus to his work, having travelled widely – in Asia,
Europe, United States and West Indies; including periods living in
Indonesia, Malaysia, Britain, the Netherlands, Germany, and Singapore.
His work has been shown in solo
and group exhibitions in the Blue Mountains, Sydney, Bathurst and Cowra.
He is the recipient of a number of First Prize and Commendation awards
in open exhibitions. His work is held in private collections in
Australia and overseas.
