Pat's experimentation with many different mediums, styles and techniques allows her artwork to continually evolve. Her work is accurately described as eclectic but her most significant work is that of an energetic, semi-abstract colourist. She enjoys the forgiveness of acrylic when playing with new forms of expression and testing ideas, particularly on large canvases. She has recently discovered the joys - and difficulties - of gouache and ink and, in a new direction for her, smaller works on paper. She regards experimentation and "playing with paint" as essential to her ongoing love of painting. But her favourite medium is oil which enables her to readily capture the hot whites and dazzling reds of the Australian interior. Pat has been awarded a significant number of prizes since she began painting 15 years ago, the last in 2011, and has paintings in collections in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada and throughout Australia. Pat is a founding partner of the artists’ collective established in December 2001 which owns and manages The Gallery Blackheath. |
